This story changed my thoughts about crew meals forever. It was told to me by a flight attendant. Apparently it is not the first time it has happened.

 

I will first start by admitting that being a pilot can go to your head. Especially guilty are the old school Captains as a large percentage of them are complete asses who treat all around them like dirt. If you’re one of them, and you are reading this, I hope it is a wake up call. However, it will most likely result in an offer for a crew meal exchange with the first officer. So if you are a First Officer reading this - Beware!

 

One crusty Captain was dishing out his brand of chauvinistic authority to a flight attendant, and this day she had enough. After he finished chewing her out for not servicing his needs quickly enough, she proceeded with her plan for revenge. She took his crew meal which consisted of a sandwich, removed the bread and went into the washroom. There she locked the door and opened the lid to the toilet. She took the bread and used it to wipe the inner bowl of the toilet including the underside of the seat making sure to include a few black curly hairs - yuk! She then put the sandwich back together and delivered it to her master with a sincere apology for taking so long. She stuck around long enough to watch him take his first bite!

 

The moral of the story: Always treat everyone with respect . . . and never switch crew meals with a miserable prick.
